Dan is a Texas-born, NYC-based writer and editor covering travel, food, spirits, and culture. He was most recently the Deputy Digital Editor at Saveur magazine, and previously served as Digital Community & Commercial Editor and Assistant Food & Drink Editor at Time Out New York.
Nowadays, Dan’s writing appears in GQ, Food & Wine, Paper Magazine, Vice Munchies, Architectural Digest, Gotham Magazine, Eater, Playboy, Liquor.com, Chefsfeed, and many more. In May of 2018, Dan was named recipient of The Spirits Business' annual Alan Lodge Young International Drinks Writer Award. In addition to his editorial work, Dan provides media strategy and PR consulting to agencies, restaurants and bars, brands, and hotels. in late 2018, he joined the Vietnamese direct-trade coffee company Nguyen Coffee Supply as PR director.
Prior to pursuing journalism, Dan worked in restaurant & nightlife PR and also has ten years of experience in the hospitality industry as a barista, bartender, and consultant. You can find him moonlighting behind the stick at Middle Branch.
Dan is a native of Houston and a graduate of New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. He is the proud son of Vietnamese refugees. In his spare time, he lends his abilities to political and educational causes, including the Sunflower Mission, a 501c3 non-profit building schools and awards scholarships in rural Vietnam.
